Reading postings out of Los Angeles seem to have mixed reaction. Bill Plaschke was very vocal in his displeasure in Kiffin's hire.
Was Lane Kiffin a good hire?
He won't be short of talent, so you shouldn't be surprised if USC wins 9+ games in 2010. I don't think this question can be answered until the fallout with the NCAA probes finally reveal themselves in all their glory or horror.
Everyone can leave the Ed Orgeron hotline to the side. There's too much gray area and doesn't really violate any NCAA rules. Kiffin said in his introductory press conference at Tennessee that he had a crash course in damage control when he was with the Oakland Raiders. I hope Kiffin kept his notepad with all of his data because he may need to refer to it after February.
All of the Vol fans and grieved and expressed their anger. It's time to move on. You can call for Mike Hamilton's head, but it's time to get an established winner (one that won't bolt). This is why I think David Cutcliffe was a good hire. What's Ole Miss's loss is Tennessee's gain. Reports are out that the only thing keeping Cutcliffe from dawning the orange for a third time, is hiring of assistants. If I'm Mike Hamilton, I give him the green light. Tennessee assistants are bailing and Cutcliffe is a man of loyalty, which is a plus to most southerners.
This next coaching hire may either save Mike Hamilton's job or propel him out the door in Knoxville. The next hire could elevate the Vols or it can set them back once again.

Can someone for the love of Salt Lake vote this jackass out of the U.S. Senate???? I lose more faith and gain more cynicism when I read stories of moron's like him bitching about the unfairness of college football rather than actually focusing on issues that may impact the way of life in America. I'm talking to you Orrin Hatch. Mr. "I want President Obama to invite Boise St. to the White House with Alabama." I don't hear Jeff Sessions or Richard Shelby constantly crying when Auburn had an undefeated season in 2004 while Alabama was in the crapper. I understand that the Mountain West isn't the SEC, but isn't the conservative mantra that if you work hard enough and achieve obstacles, you earn your respect? The more I read about this guy, the more I can't stand Government, the Republican party, and citizens of Utah for voting this dumbass as a Senator. He cried enough when Utah was shunned of a National Title opportunity. So he decided to waste my time and tax dollars on investigating BCS and anti-trust laws. Last time I checked, that doesn't sound that damn conservative to me. The only trust that has been violated is my faith in the bi-partisan system. If that wasn't enough, he wants President Obama to invite Boise St. to the White House along with BCS Champion Alabama. If I'm a Boise St. fan, I'd be pissed because you shouldn't accept a 1st runner up visit because an idiot Senator feels sorry for you.
Here's a newsflash for Mr. Hatch and the other half-ass pundits who are wasting space on Capitol Hill. We will live if we don't have a playoff in College Football. We won't be on the brink of suicide if you fail to defeat the BCS and finally accomplish a dream of a playoff in the FBS. So get off your soapbox and find a way my grandmother can stay away from a nursing home without the government screwing her over!!! GET TO WORK!!!!
