Rules are rules.....Can we finally make peace with it?

I think one thing that has helped me in life was when I finally decided to no longer worry about things I can't control. I've learned this as a sports fan and for life in general.

That may explain why it bugs me everytime I read a pile of garbage like this it makes me scoff. My question is how come The Bleacher Report lets this jackass write and not me. As many of you know, I usually call it like I see it, keep bias as far away as I can, and own up to the fact I was wrong.

I picked the Colts to win the Super Bowl, and I was wrong. I'm able to make peace with it. Steve Montana can't seem to do so. As a matter of fact, he's crying about the onside kick the Saints executed to start the second half.

The more I began to think about this and discuss it, is it not the same as Orrin Hatch or Joe Barton crying about the BCS was unfair? Scuba Steve can't seem to acknowledge that Sean Payton made a gutsy call and coached to win unlike Colts head coach Jim Caldwell.

That discussion then turned over into the overtime rules in the NFL. Some deem it as unfair. I tend to disagree. The NFL is grown man's league and both teams have 60 minutes to defeat their opponent. If they can't put them away after that, I don't see a problem with Sudden Death.

All of this talk about fairness and unfairness in sports makes sports fan look like a bunch of crying pansies.

Granted, I did have an issue with the interception (or non-interception) call in the Alabama/LSU game. However, what's done is done. You don't hear me still stewing over it. I can disagree with the rule, but it's there and I can't do a damn thing about it.

If a team won in an NFL overtime that certain game, would the fans of the winning team be crying about the overtime rule? Probably not. They would cry had the other team won.

Isn't certain things in certain sports really portray the beauty of sports and leave us wanting more? Here's a newsflash, your team is probably not going to win the championship every year. There's going to be bad calls, unfortunate circumstances, etc.

However, this constant outcry for rule changes in overtimes and systems to determine a champion is beginning to leave a bitter taste in mouth. Can we all make peace with the fact that rules are rules and they're fine the way they are? There's more things in life to get upset about. Let's focus on changing those issues to make our lives better. Let sports be what they are....sports.
