As most of you may know, I'm finally I'm quitting the spinach. It's been 6 days working on 7. With the help of Sugarfree gum, Sunflowers seeds, and Vitamin Water, I've been able to survive. As we approach the 2pm hour, I'm beginning to get a craving again. Before I go grab my bag of Big League Chew, I'd use this opportunity to let out my frustration while my withdrawls continue. Be aware!
I believe the 2010 NCAA Tournament should be properly title "The year of the Mid-Major Orgasm". We've seen the Butlers, St. Marys, Gonzagas, and Northern Iowas bust our brackets and leave throwing our remotes at the TV. There is one common denominator in all these teams. They're remained consistent in the spotlight. Who was that 11 seed in 2006 that went to the Final Four? George Mason??? What happened to them???? Oh, wait, they weren't consistent to stay in the eye of the most influential.
You probably have an idea of where this is about to lead to. Yes, I hate the expansion of the NCAA Tournament. It's obvious!!!! I don't fault the NCAA for trying to make money. However, are they tampering with the wrong thing??? I don't remember Joe Barton or Orrin Hatch pushing legislation to get the basketball tournament expanded. I don't think Auburn fans are still bitter about missing the NCAA Tournament two years ago at the magnitude of their BCS title snub in 2004.
It raises the question, if you're trying to expand a business, don't you improve the hot product you're already selling and leave a consistent best seller alone? Where has the outcry been for tournament expansion??? Amongst the people involved in Mid-Major schools??? I don't recall Gonzaga or Butler crying for expansion, they seem to have earned their noteriety and are doing just fine. If the NCAA wanted to improve college basketball, they would modify the regular season. Instead, they're sacrificing it for the sake of the whiny little brat getting his lollipop and his 15th place trophy.
When this goes into effect, I will have no reason to watch a regular season game in college basketball. I'll tune into the NBA or maybe watch something other than sports.
