Jason's Gauntlet 05/24/10

I have a lot in this week's lineup. If the trip to Charlotte didn't let out all of the steam, this will. Much to get to, so let's get started.

#1. Auburn Tigers : 2004 BCS National Champions******************

Is this a case of the woman 6 years after high school who can't get over being rejected by the High School QB as a date for the Senior Prom??? Okay, Reggie Bush may have broken some rules and if so USC should be stripped of their Championship. However, it shouldn't be awarded to Oklahoma or Auburn. Besides, why the hell would you want a Championship that you were awarded 6 years after the fact. It sounds a little pathetic to me. If the AP does decide to re-vote and award Auburn a National Championship, I hope they play this song at the parade..............

#2. Expansion Talk is cheap, actions speak louder

In the slow time of football season we start to stretch for stories that will peak the interest because for some reason, other sports aren't that interesting(explain that by the way). The Big Ten Expansion talk has opened a firestorm for more talks of Mega-Conferences and NFL Amatuer League, etc. Does the Big Ten really need to expand past XII and what domino effect will it have???? Who the hell knows and who the hell cares until the first move is made??? You can talk about Texas and Oklahoma joining the SEC and Mizzou joining the Big Ten. However, when is enough finally enough??? How about waiting until the first move to start discussion rather than chasing this waterfall?

#3. A Super Cold Super Bowl????

So there is a buzz that New York is in the running for the Super Bowl in 2014. The main question that sparks conversation is should the Super Bowl be hosted in cold weather???? I wouldn't think about it too much and would listen to the argument until I hear NFL players complaining about Cold Weather.

Some argue:

1) Cold Weather would be a disaster

OR

2) One team may have an advantage over the other.

If were so concerned to complain about field conditions and unfair advantages, put the damn games in a dome and be done with it. There's some Northern cities that have domes and wouldn't mind hosting the game.

However, New York is one of the largest markets in the country and could make a big draw. It's about business folks, not the damn weather.

#4. Common Sense vs. Iron Bowl bias

So rumors begin to surface that Alabama Gubernatorial candidate Tim James joked he would cut Nick Saban's salary if he was elected Governor. The source has been alleged to come from TiderInsider.com or the Bradley Byrne camp. I called Byrne's campaign staff and by the tone of their words, they had no clue what was going on.

However, it started a firestorm of Alabama & Auburn fanbases saying they were influenced by this so called "joke".

I grew up in Alabama and I hate to be cynical. Nevertheless, if you were swayed one way or the other by this so called "rumor" or by if someone says Roll Tide or War Eagle, stay the hell away from the ballot box in fear of wrecking potential bright future in the great state of Alabama.

#1 ... Auburn wouldn’t have won that game anyways even if they played Oklahoma.

#2 Agreed

#3 Stop bitching ... you are in the superbowl .. your adrenalin should be pumping you could win in pads and a Speedo. (eewww bad image) and its not fair that the southern states/nice weather states get all the superbowls its good money and it should be played in a different stadium every year. on a round robin sched regardless of weather. And the only delay is lighting and if you don’t want to go because of the weather … give your tickets to us poor people that can’t afford them. We would love to freeze our balls off for a chance to watch a super bowl in person.

#4 i am a huge sports fan and i love to talk sports even when i have no idea what i am talking about ... kind of like the rant above. but if you base your vote on what team you cheer for or who the candidate cheers for you not only shouldn’t be allowed to vote but there some other things taken away from you too for example but not limited to:
Procreate
Own a weapon
Allowed to hold sharp objects in public
Obtain a hunting license
Be within 100 yards of a school or Chucky cheese
