College Basketball Season has begun.....and I'm already sick of it.

Usually I'm pretty amped when college basketball season starts. However, after a week into it, I'm already getting sick and tired of it. It's not because Kansas is No. 1 in the polls and the Duke Blue Devils still get no respect. It's because of the play of some of the SEC teams. Let me preface my next statement by saying SO FAR..South Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, Ole Miss, and Arkansas have handled it's business and dominated teams that they are suppose to dominate. However, teams like Alabama, Auburn, Miss. St, and Kentucky have already made me want to turn the TV off and watch reruns of The Office.

Alabama loses to Cornell 71-67: I understand that Cornell is a tournament team and finished 21-9 last season. However, why does an SEC have a problem beating an Ivy League school? Missouri didn't have a problem beating them, as well as Syracuse or Indiana. So don't give me the weak ass excuse that Cornell made the tournament last year. I'm not buying it!!!

#19 Miss. St. loses to Rider 88-74: The defending SEC tournament champions come in with alot of hype with the return of Jarvis Vernardo and the coming of Renardo Sidney. You'd expect Miss. St. to drive the SEC back to validity, right? WRONG! They lose to a Rider team that finished 19-13 with a schedule that had Siena has their toughest opponent and a loss to Rutgers!!! RUTGERS!!! Now, for some reason, they run crazy over a team that's suppose to be Top 25 and good this year. Absolutely asinine, way to derail the train off the tracks of respect!!!

Auburn loses to Missouri St. 73-62: This was a team that was whining about not getting into the dance last year. Way to make a statement by losing to a team that went 11-19 last year AND you beat 75-60 in your own backyard. Don't give me the excuse of playing on the road. The only reason the SEC is getting grief is because you're losing to the Mercers of the world. They are a good team, granted. However, they're not a great team. Before you start crying about getting that NIT bid last year, shut up and beat the teams you're suppose to.

Kentucky escapes Miami(OH) 72-70: Here we go with the Kentucky's back talk, and I think it started a little too early. I give credit to Kentucky for battling and scrapping to escape. However, when you're the #5 team in the country; you should not be winning this game on a last second shot by John Wall. John Calipari looks to be the only vessel that could lead the SEC back into the waters of competitive in the hoops department. Unless some adjustments and physicality come into play, that vessel will sink fast.

You may ask, why am I so frustrated??? It's just basketball, right? Yes, it is. But once the final seconds tick down on that January night in Pascadena, the sports fan in North Alabama and probably the majority of the south will go into hibernation mode. Why??? Because fans don't really want to waste their time watching such an inferior product that SEC basketball has become. Who let this happen?
