I happened to be catching up on some sleep (from Election Coverage) when I was awaken by phone calls about the blown call during the Detroit Tigers/Cleveland Indians game that robbed Armando Gallaraga of a perfect game and a place in history.
Clearly, Jim Joyce missed the call, and I won't argue that. The game was not perfect, and I won't attempt to argue that is was. Blown calls happen. If this had happened in the 2nd or 3rd Inning, or unless it was a Post-Season Game, this wouldn't be that big of a deal.
The way that Armando Gallaraga and Jim Joyce acted in this situation is admirable. I hate it for Gallaraga, I really do. However, blown calls are part of baseball. This blessing in all of this should be that Major League Baseball looks to expand an Instant Replay system like the NFL has. Some people may not like Instant Replay, but it wouldn't bother me if it happened in a NFL like format. Anything more would be excessive.
The only absurdity should be the way the Governor of Michigan decided to pass legislation to declare a perfect game for Armando Gallaraga. If that isn't bad enough, we now have John Dingell, a Michigan Senator says he will introduce legislation to overturn the ruling.
You may ask, why am I so upset about this???? Let's reflect back to my good buddy Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah or Rep. Joe Barton of Texas's crusade against the BCS.
My problem with all of this is the smugness of these Political primadonnas to think they can overrule an "unjust" decision just because a sports team from their home base was screwed over. Did Richard Shelby, Jeff Sessions, Bud Cramer, Robert Aderholt, Joe Bonner, etc. try to pass legislation to overrule the BCS decision that left Auburn out of the BCS title game in 2004???? So far no one has confirmed that with me. Would they do it if it was Alabama??? It wouldn't surprise me if they did.
This is nothing but a vote-pandering stunt to appeal to the morons of our society. What will happen??? They'll get votes. I would even equal this to the Tim James Ad about speaking English.........................
Lastly, can anyone tell me how Michigan's economy is doing???? I've met people in Michigan who have moved to the south for some crazy reason. Put a little more energy to that rather than just feeding your power by the vote of feeble idiots!
